After a series of ‘Art in the Community’ meetings, postings to the blog, and a mention in a recent newsletter residents have come up with a final design for the project. The concept is a tiled street sign that captures the Victorian heritage of the area, incorporates a ‘welcome tile’ found in the front porch of many homes in the neighbourhood, and finally includes two yellow tiles used in the refurbishment of Turnpike Lane Tube Station. All the tiles will be provided by the company involved in the restoration of the tube station. The tiles will be held in place by a black metal frame and situated at 8 different locations in the neighbourhood. At the last ‘Art in the Community’ meeting we held a walkabout and identified eight potential locations. These will need to be confirmed with landlords/owners over the coming weeks. Once locations are confirmed, I will post them to the blog.
Please use the poll below to vote for which colour-way you would prefer. The poll will be up until Thursday 1st March and a winner announced on Friday 2nd March.
