A Neighbourhood Mentality

After chatting with residents this weekend, during the home zone site visits, I wanted to take the opportuntiy to clarify the general scope of this DIY Streets project. The aim is to take the neighbourhood (see map) as a whole and address the problems consistently throughout the area. Residents will be asked for their thoughts and input on both their own street and those throughout the neighbourhood. The project will aim to address as many of the traffic and sustainable travel issues – throughout the entire neighbourhood – as possible. The key is to think beyond your own street and to also think outside of traditional traffic calming and urban space design. It is an exciting opportunity that will be defined by the residents of the neighbourhood – over the next two years you will have the chance to take part in something unique to where you live.
