Thanks to everyone who came along to the design session on the 13th Nov. From the last three sessions we have come away with lots of fantastic ideas and design solutions. At the first design session you agreed upon these project objectives:
- Cutting traffic speed and volume
- A clearly defined neighbourhood
- Better street management (trees, lighting, parking, signage)
- Improved junctions
- Safer and quality public space
- An active community
You agreed that – a) a community hub is important to the project, b) Waldeck Road is a good location for this hub, and c) that you would rather cut the speed of, and thereby discourage, rat running traffic rather than limit your own accessibility.
Over the next two months, we will be drawing up your ideas and will present them to you, for further comment, early in the new year. The four broad areas of focus are breakpoints, gateways, junctions, and community spaces. As soon as I have a date confirmed for the next meeting, I will post notice of it to this blog, distribute a newsletter, and also send out an email.
In the meantime, please email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions about the process or comments on previous events. In the near future, I will be posting an overview of the project timeline.
