Why 'woonerfs' will change how we drive

This week The Daily Telegraph reported on the ‘shared’ road typical of many Dutch neighbourhoods where drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and kids enjoy equal use of the space. To read the article please click here. It is a model that has long inspired DIY Streets and residents of the neighbourhood will recognise elements of the Dutch model in the DIY Streets Turnpike Lane project. However, there is still a long way to go before we get to the standard of the Woonerf, but hopefully you can see some of the motivations and aspirations of our project in the article.
